What is mold testing and how can it be beneficial?

At EnviroNix, we believe that mold testing should supplement a thorough visual inspection of the property. Our team conducts a detailed moisture investigation of the building and recommends testing based on our findings. Mold testing can identify unseen particles present in the air or determine the type of mold present on surfaces. Air samples, surface samples (swab or tape lift), carpet samples, and bulk samples are the most commonly used types of mold testing.

Is mold testing trustworthy?

Mold testing is reliable, but it requires a nuanced response. Unfortunately, some mold professionals rely too heavily on testing and do not conduct a comprehensive inspection or provide a detailed inspection report. As a result, clients receive laboratory results without any proper recommendations for the next steps. At EnviroNix, we take a different approach. We conduct all inspections at the highest level of detail before collecting samples. We take pictures and videos of any problem areas, provide a mold assessment report to the client that outlines visible mold areas, water damage, and any other indoor air quality concerns. We then recommend mold sampling based on our inspection findings, custom-tailored to our clients' needs to determine the extent of mold contamination within the building.

All samples are sent to an independent AIHA-approved laboratory for analysis. This third-party lab analyzes the samples and provides a certified mold report outlining the findings. We review the report and contact you to discuss the details. We then provide you with a final report that outlines the issues and the corrective actions necessary to restore the property to a healthy state.

How much does mold testing cost?

Mold can have adverse effects on your health, especially for those with allergies or respiratory conditions. By identifying and addressing mold issues, a mold assessment helps safeguard the well-being of building occupants. Furthermore, mold can cause structural damage to your property if left untreated. Early detection through a mold assessment can save you time and money on costly repairs.
